January 27, 2005 - "Peaceful Moments" by Marie Williams
Welcome to 2TheHeart!
"Every day that we wake up is a good day. Every breath that we take is filled with hope for a better day. Every word that we speak is a chance to change what is bad into something good." ~Walter Mosley, Writer
I was absolutely stunned at the number of emails I received after I shared my story "P.S...Pray". Most of them are very personal journeys similar to my own with my son, so in order to keep them confidential, I can't share them in the Letter Box. But what surprised me the most was the common bond so many of us share, and how each of us has learned over time that prayer is the one saving force throughout. Thank you to each of you who opened your heart and shared your own story with me. I will keep them in my heart and always remember them.

It is 5:00 am and my sleepy community is slowly awakening. Stepping into my office, the moon is at its peak of beauty. Brilliant and luminous, it casts light on the glistening grass still moist from the early morning dew.
I stand silently at my window in awe of the magnificence of this creation God has so graciously shared with mankind.
In the shadows, three deer stand at the road, pausing momentarily to look left, then right, as if watching for oncoming traffic. Assured that their crossing is safe, they quickly trot across to our hay field, heading to the pond for a quick drink.
Between the disappearance of the moon, and the setting of the sun, God has sprinkled tiny blessings throughout my day; a phone call from a grandchild wishing me a happy birthday and emails from strangers who have visited my website. I've even shared a good laugh with a friend over my hasty selection of two different tennis shoes I wore to town earlier in the day.
I hear my Father's voice as I take a moment to read His Word and pray. Burdens are lifted and joy floods my soul as I contemplate the day and all it held. During this time of fellowship, when God whispers my name, I listen with my heart as he corrects, encourages and loves.
Peace surrounds me, a peace this world cannot give. It's an everlasting inner peace, a calm in the storms of life, as soothing as the glowing embers of the magnificent sunset.
As evening falls, I find myself once again, gazing from my window. The sun now sets in the west. The sky is painted with rainbow colors that no artist can ever reproduce. The birds are going to roost. A straggling purple martin soars one last circle before settling in for the night.
I am so thankful God has chosen to show His glory in the simple things of life and, because of his unmerited favor, I am His child.
Satisfied that God is in full control, I know that tonight I will have sweet sleep.

I have been writing seriously for about four years. I wrote a weekly devotional for a local newspaper for two years, have several poems which have been published, one of which is permanently placed in 'Holy Land USA,' in Bedford, Vermont. I was also had 'Poem of the Month' for the Fellowship of Christian Poets.

The Letter Box:
I know it must have been very difficult to write "P.S...Pray" and then share it with all of us. I'm hoping that it will help you to heal from this terrible hurt you have been carrying around. The prayers from all of us will undoubtedly shower heaven for you, your family and most importantly your son and my wish and prayers for you all is that God's love will encircle you and heal you. God uses us in ways we don't expect and sometimes don't understand but maybe your son helped someone else in detention that would not have heard about God or seen someone read the Bible. Maybe your son has helped save someone else's life. You may not ever know the reason but I will pray that peace will come to you and your family and that God will wrap you in His love and will reach out and enfold your son and help him to be strong against Satan.
You have so many friends out here that will be supportive and help you in any way we can.
God Bless you,
Thanks for sharing your story with your online family. There is strength in numbers when we pray and we all love you so much and will be praying...Melva
Susan, Thank you for sharing your story. As a mother of three grown sons who were raised to know and love the Lord, and who, in different degrees, have all veered off that good and right path, I totally empathize with every word you wrote and every emotion you expressed. God's direction to me concerning my sons was also "love them, leave them in My faithful hands, and ... pray!" You and your family are in my prayers. - Karen, Georgia
Thank you for sharing your heart in today's story. All of us have a heartache of one kind or another in our lives, and it was touching of you to share yours. As your extended family, we will be praying for your son, too. God is always in control, even when things don't seem to make sense. God bless you. Hugs, Joyce
Thank you for sharing such a touching story. I know how hard it was for you to open your heart. You've allowed yourself to be vulnerable to your readers, and I have the utmost respect for you.
Life certainly is not always easy, but what a precious gift we have been given....to be able to lift friends and loved ones along with so many others to our Lord in prayer, and know that he not only hears, but is touched by our faith and will answer.
Thank God he knows what's best for us and wants only the best for us!
May his best be yours and please know I am praying for you and your family.
Blessings, Marie Williams
